This extra large sisal, woven basket is handmade by our artisans in Gitarama, Rwanda. The women grow their own sisal plants, extract the fibers, then hand-dye and weave them into these beautiful works of art. The sisal is woven around sweetgrass, a fragrant grass with a subtle sweetness. This size basket takes 3 days to weave and comes with a string attached to the back so that you can hang it on the wall. In addition to making a beautiful table display, these baskets can also be hung as art. You can combine them with other baskets or works of art to make a feature wall collage.
Amsha works directly with artisans to produce handmade goods in order to create a lasting and positive impact. We use locally sourced and recycled materials in order to reduce our carbon footprint and to ensure that our social impact extends to our supply chain.
When you purchase an Amsha good, our artisans earn 2- 3 times as much as they would in their local market. We support a living wage and benefits that go beyond fair trade.
